The Hongwu Banquet is based on the historical fact that Zhu Yuanzhang's wandering children fled from famine to begging, became monks, then went to the peasant uprising army, fought in the south and fought in the north, and finally seized power and established the Ming Dynasty. Luo Shulun, a native of Zhu Yuanzhang's hometown (Fengyang), a national senior culinary technician, an Anhui appraiser and a culinary master, referred to the Ming Dynasty court recipes according to the anecdotes of Zhu Yuanzhang in folklore and the dishes he had eaten.
