First, it is the hometown of vegetables. Hekou Town used to be one of the most important vegetable bases in western Anhui. Except for two professional vegetable villages, other villages in the town have vegetable planting bases of a certain scale, and the total area of vegetable planting accounts for about 8% of the total cultivated land in the town, reaching 2000 mu. Plastic greenhouses and out-of-season vegetable planting techniques are widely used, and fresh vegetables are supplied in the town all year round. Because of its variety and large output, its vegetable sales area has expanded year by year. Hekou vegetables are not only sold to Lu 'an, Huoqiu, Jinzhai, Ji Ye and other places, but also exported to neighboring counties and towns such as Gushi. The annual vegetable output is about 2000 tons.

Second, it is an important distribution center for animal husbandry and aquatic products. Hekou Town, located at the intersection of several major rivers in the county, is rich in animal husbandry and aquatic products. In addition to traditional livestock such as pigs, white geese, ducks and native chickens, the centralized acquisition and long-distance trafficking of aquatic products, mainly loach, eel, turtle and lobster, are also extremely popular in this town, which not only attracts farmers from more than ten surrounding towns to trade, but also enriches the food baskets of urban residents such as Hefei and Nanjing. The daily trading volume of aquatic products in the town is about 5, showing a booming trend of buying and selling.

The third is the daily necessities wholesale distribution center. Hekou Town has flourished as a wholesale market for daily necessities since it was founded in Ming and Qing Dynasties. There are more than 40 wholesale stores and daily department stores 10 in the town, with a daily commodity transaction volume of more than 500,000 yuan. Due to the door-to-door delivery mode, its trade radiation area has expanded year by year. With the gradual completion of the newly-built Hekou bazaar invested by the former Anhui Textile Trade Materials Corporation, Hekou has increasingly become the daily necessities wholesale center in the surrounding towns of western Anhui and eastern Henan.

The fourth is the rice processing base. Huoqiu county is a national commodity grain base, and rice is the main agricultural product in this county. Hekou Grain and Oil Reserve Station is a provincial grain reserve with an annual reserve of 30,000 tons. There are more than 30 rice processing plants in the town, such as Fulai polished rice factory, which can process 600 tons of rice every day, and the products are exported to Jiangsu, Zhejiang, Guangdong and other provinces.

The fifth is the hometown of culture. Historically, Hekou Town was once one of the three major towns in Huoqiu County. Hekou Middle School in the town is a complete middle school directly under the county. Founded in 1954, it is now a provincial civilized unit and a municipal demonstration high school. In addition, there are Hekou Town Middle School, Caolou Vocational School, Hekou No.1 Primary School, No.2 Primary School, Central Kindergarten and Private Middle School, with more than 20,000 students, covering 32 townships in the county. Hekou Cultural Station invested10.2 million yuan to lay optical cable, which realized the connection with Huoqiu county cable TV network and greatly enriched the amateur cultural life of the whole town.
