The annual output of Gannan navel orange reaches one million tons, and Ganzhou City, Jiangxi Province, where it originates from, has become the world's first navel orange planting area, the world's third largest annual output, and the largest navel orange main production area in the country.

The Gannan navel orange has been listed as one of the eleven advantageous agricultural products in China, and has been honored with the title of "Famous Chinese Fruit". As the only product in Jiangxi Province, Gannan navel orange has been shortlisted in the list of geographical indication products for the negotiation of China-EU Geographical Indication Agreement between the Ministry of Commerce and the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine (AQSIQ).

In 2016, the brand value of Gannan navel orange reached 66.811 billion yuan, topping the national value list of geographical indication products of primary agricultural products for four consecutive years.
