2. Nepenthes mostly live in an environment with high humidity, high temperature and strong scattered light. Usually on the edge of a forest or shrub or in an open place. A few species, such as pitcher plants and apples, like to grow in dense and dark forests. Most species have adapted to grow in grass populations similar to grassland species. Nepenthes grow in acidic and low-nutrient soil, usually peat, white sand, sandstone or volcanic soil.
