Deer hunter, Pennsylvania 1968. Five Russian youths often go to Allegheny Mountain to hunt deer for fun during the hunting season. On the eve of Vietnam War, Michael, Nicole and Stephen were drafted into the army. Before leaving, Stephen married Angela, and Linda, who was in love with Nick and engaged, agreed to marry him when Nick came back. At the same time, Linda has a crush on Michael. Two years later, Michael and others were captured by the Vietnamese army and suffered all kinds of terrible torture there. One day, the Vietnamese army guarding them forced them to play Russian roulette with other prisoners of war. Michael and Nick bided their time, grabbed the gun, killed the guard, and then escaped with Stephen. Michael, who was disheartened, went home after many vicissitudes.
