Silk-tailed carp, also known as white-bearded male fish, is called Baung in Malaysia. The head is flat and conical, the trunk is cylindrical, and the back is higher. There are barbs at the posterior edge of dorsal fin spine, serrations at the anterior edge of pectoral fin spine and coarse serrations at the posterior edge. There are fat fins, and the base of the fin is equivalent to the gluteal fin. The caudal fin is bifurcated and the upper leaves are elongated into filaments. There are 4 pairs of whiskers, including nasal whisker 1 pair, upper collar whisker 1 pair and lower collar whisker, 2 pairs, in which the upper collar whisker is very long and its end extends beyond the ventral fin to the vicinity of the gluteal fin. Mandarin fish is a highly endangered animal. Silurus meridionalis is distributed in the Lancang River system and the lower Mekong River basin in China. It is a large-scale edible fish with famous origin and beautiful appearance, and can be used as an ornamental fish.
