Sour bees are small bees of the genus Stingless Bee of the family of honey bees, also known as sticky bees, ant bees, etc., which are named sour bees because of the sweet honey they produce, mainly distributed in the primitive rainforests in Zheng'an, Guizhou, Hainan, Guangxi, and Guangdong, etc., with a body size of only one-tenth of the ordinary honey bees, which can penetrate deep into flower tubes to collect nectar and pollinate crops, fruit trees, and traditional Chinese medicines.
Sour bees are only about one-tenth of the size of ordinary honey bees, with black body color, smooth body surface, large and broad head, developed mouthparts, long mid-lip and tongue, and wing length obviously larger than the body length, the outer edge of the tibial segment of the hind foot of the worker bees with long hairs and pollen baskets, the inner surface of the basal tarsal segment with neatly arranged brushes, and the end of the abdomen without a stinger.
