Tools/materials: green walnut, water, chopping board, kitchen knife.
1. Put the green walnut in a pot of boiling water and cook for about 3-5 minutes to soften the skin.
2. Take out the cooked green walnut and soak it in cold water for a period of time until it is cool. Use a knife to cut a small mouth or several small knives around the walnut shell, which is helpful for peeling.
3. Put the cut green walnut on a hard surface, and tap or press it gently with the back of a kitchen knife or other hard objects to break the skin.
4. Put the broken green walnuts in a ventilated and sunny place, such as a ventilated windowsill or terrace. It may take several days to expose the green walnuts to the sun and wait for the skin to dry naturally and become brittle.
5. When the skin of green walnut becomes dry and brittle, gently tap the skin with your fingers or the back of a kitchen knife. The skin should fall off easily.
