Wild snake fruit
In spring, besides enjoying the fun of going out for a walk, enjoying flowers and picking wild vegetables, and climbing mountains and picking wild fruits also have some fun. Although the wild fruits in spring are not as rich as those in autumn, there are always some fruits that have experienced severe cold. They are colorful, small and exquisite, hidden in that touch of green, and very attractive in appreciation and taste.

I remember when I was a child, I liked to play in the country. At that time, "cherry freedom" and other expensive fruits were not popular. Several wild cherry trees in the suburbs have become a paradise for me and my friends to climb up and down. When picking cherries, I sat on a tree, yellow and red, not as big as my little finger, sweet and sour and juicy, and I couldn't stop eating. That faint fragrance is unforgettable to this day.

Unfortunately, there is no obvious difference between suburbs and cities now. Free wild fruit has basically become a collection garden in the greenhouse, which is somewhat deliberate. However, there is no need to regret it. You can go for a walk in the mountains more often when spring is blooming. Flowers blooming vigorously in ravines and fields can bear surprising fruits in a blink of an eye, which is also an excellent compensation for spring.

Goat milk fruit

The first time I saw this fruit was in Dali, Yunnan. On the streets of Dali in spring, vendors carrying burdens are selling, and the bright red appearance is covered with spots, which makes people laugh. After going back and forth to my hometown for an outing in the mountains, I saw several wild varieties growing in the corner of the mountain. Flaming fruits are dotted among the branches and leaves, thin and small but full of vitality.

Goat milk fruit is its scientific name, and hometown people like to call it cow lice fruit. Wild fruits are smaller than those cultivated in Yunnan. Eating wild goat fruit is not very particular. As long as you put the cooked fruit directly into your mouth, the sweet and sour juice will burst in your mouth, which is much fresher than the taste of the cherry tomatoes.

In addition to eating directly, it is also unique to learn the mixture of salt and pepper in Yunnan and other regions. Wipe off the spotted skin first, and then add spices such as Chili powder and salt to marinate. The stimulating taste neutralizes the sweet and sour of the fruit, and combines the sweet, sour, spicy and salty tastes, not to mention how cool it is.

raspberry

Speaking of raspberries, there is still a "horrible" memory in childhood. When I was a child, I went to the wild with my friends and ate a raspberry by mistake. My friend told me mysteriously that it was called "snake fruit", which would turn into a snake after eating it. I couldn't sleep at night for those days, but I was afraid to tell adults.

I didn't know until I grew up that there was still a difference between raspberries and raspberries. Raspberry is a raspberry mentioned by Mr. Lu Xun in "From a Hundred Herbs Garden to the Moon in Santan". It is like a "ball made of coral beads", shaped like a strawberry covered with small fluff, sour and sweet. Raspberries stick to the ground and are relatively small, so they really can't be eaten.

Raspberry ripens in different regions at different times, usually from April to June, so it is also called March bubble, April bubble, raspberry, milk bubble and so on. Compared with other wild fruits that need to be seen in the deep mountains, they can be found on hillsides, ridges and wasteland in the suburbs. Sometimes it is found that berries on the same shrub grow in different colors, such as crimson, reddish and orange.

I especially remember that the elders at home would take us to pick out enamel pots. After picking, our hands were covered with red juice and the enamel pot was full. Only children can understand the sense of accomplishment and joy.

cape gooseberry

When I first arrived in Beijing, I always saw the sign of "Girl Fruit" hanging on supermarkets and stalls, which was very confusing. When I suddenly found that the fruit of the lantern was a girl's fruit, I was lost again. In my hometown, Lagerstroemia indica is a kind of wild fruit covered with a thin layer of green yarn, which has not been mass-produced and sold in the market. Only later did I know what it looked like when it matured.

When I was a child, Lagerstroemia indica was the most wild fruit picked with my friends. After a small white flower on an inconspicuous shrub withered, it was quickly covered by a small green lantern. At this time, the lantern fruit is not yet mature, and the friends will always tear off the gauze skirt early, take off the round green beads to play, and occasionally eat one, which is sour and sour, grinning.

Now the gourd has become a common fruit in the north, and it is faintly visible in the suburbs. I think maybe I was too anxious when I was a child, and I found it when I grew up. When the green yarn is dry and almost transparent, it means that the lantern fruit is ripe. A smell of incense and a taste of sweetness are rare game.
