Lanxi City is located in the middle reaches of Qiantang River and the northern edge of Jinqu Basin, with geographical coordinates of 291'20 "-29 27' 30" north latitude and11913' 30 "-/kloc east longitude.

The landscape is the hilly basin in the middle of Zhejiang Province. Surrounded by mountains in the northeast, low hills in the southwest meander and the central plain stretches. There are four mountains in the territory: Longmen Mountain and Jinhua Mountain in the north and east, Qianligang Mountain branch in the northwest and Xianxialing Mountain residual vein in the south.
Three hills: northern hills, southern hills and western hills. Two basins: Jinqu Basin and Duntou Basin. A plain: Sanjiang Valley Plain. The mountainous hills are 822 square kilometers, the basin plain is 403 square kilometers and the water surface is 85 square kilometers. Since ancient times, it has been called "six mountains, one water and three fields".
