Homemade Fish Filter Making Method is:
1, Materials: a clear plastic bottle (such as a beverage bottle), swimming pool filter cotton or sponge filter material, activated carbon (optional), thread or glue, scissors.
2. Steps:
1), clean the bottle: first, wash the plastic bottle thoroughly to make sure there is no residual beverage or chemicals.
2), prepare the filter material: cut the swimming pool filter cotton or sponge filter material into the appropriate size to fit the caliber of the bottle. Activated carbon also needs to be cut into the same size pieces (if used).
3), Assemble the filter: place the filter cotton or sponge filter material in the bottle so that it fills about half of its capacity. If using activated carbon, place it on top of the filter material. Make sure the filter material fills the bottle half to two-thirds of the way up.
4) Secure the filter material: Use thread or glue to secure the filter material to the mouth of the bottle to prevent it from moving or falling.
5), complete the filter: turn the bottle upside down and punch a few small holes in the bottom of the bottle so that water can flow smoothly through the filter material and into the filter. If needed, punch holes in the side of the bottle to increase the entry of oxygen.
6), use the filter: put the made homemade filter into the fish tank or pond, make sure it can be completely submerged in the water. The water will pass through the filter and through the holes in the filter material, removing waste and impurities and providing clean water for the fish to live in.
Role of Fish Filter
1. Biological Filtration: Fish Filter converts wastes produced by the metabolism of the fish, fish food residues and other organic matter into harmless substances through the action of biological filtration. Biological filtration through a series of microorganisms, ammonia and nitrogen into nitrite and nitrate, and then make the water quality of ammonia and nitrogen content is reduced, reducing the impact of harmful substances on fish.
2, chemical filtration: some fish filters also have the function of chemical filtration, the use of activated carbon and other materials to adsorb and remove ammonia, nitrate, nitrite and other harmful substances in the water. Chemical filtration can further improve the purity and stability of water quality.
