A teacher at Xiamen University's School of Marine and Environmental Sciences said the "little worm" is a gelatinous rod-like structure in the razor clam's stomach, known as the "crystal rod", consisting of mucus proteins, adsorption of a wealth of enzymes in the razor clam's stomach to stir and mix the role of food, the crystal rod body is thick and sturdy, the body of the food. In the stomach of the razor clam, it plays the role of stirring and mixing food, and the thick body of the crystal rod is a sign of the robustness of the razor clam. This structure is generally found in the stomachs of mussels, razor clams, ctenophore scallops and other bivalve sea creatures, and is safe to eat. One end of the razor clam's crystal rod is attached to the sac in the stomach, and the other end is outside the body, which has two main functions. When the razor clam is eating, the crystal rod acts as a blender to drive the peristalsis of the intestine and stomach to promote the digestion of food; when the razor clam is hungry, the crystal rod will automatically dissolve and be used to fill up the hunger. Generally, the razor clams that have been placed for a long time will not have crystal rods in their bodies, and the razor clams will be decomposed by their own enzymes quickly or slowly, resulting in the dissolution of crystal rods on the time of the successive, so even if the fresh razor clams are caught at the same time, there are some crystal rods, and some do not have them.
2. The parasites on razor clams are usually a kind of organism called "razor clam-eating intestinal trematode", which is yellowish-white, milky-white, about 2 centimeters in length, and completely different from the crystal rod. Parasitized razor clams are too thin to continue reproducing, and more than one living organism will crawl out of their abdomen when squeezed. If people eat cooked razor clams containing parasites, it is generally not harmful, but people with poor gastrointestinal function may have indigestion and other reactions.
