Pucheng's economy has always been dominated by agriculture and rice production, and it is known as the "granary in northern Fujian". Pucheng agriculture was quite developed in Song Dynasty, with 520 dams, ranking second in the province. As the saying goes, "When you are one year old, you get a bumper harvest, and your neighbors get financial help", and the folk song says, "Pucheng has a bumper harvest, and Fuzhou has rice". Pucheng Redmi is famous for its "beauty red". Lin's deputy native product, Wang Shimao in Ming Dynasty called Pucheng "Sang Ma Gaishan Tea Bud" in Fujian Shu. Lu Yao's Smoke Spectrum said that Pucheng Tobacco was the most famous tobacco in Fujian during the Qianlong period of Qing Dynasty. During the reign of Xianfeng and Tongzhi in the Qing Dynasty, the Chinese herbal medicine Magnolia Officinalis "arrived in Fuzhou and Guangdong every year", and Coicis Semen, dried bamboo shoots, tung oil, lotus seeds, Alisma orientalis, raw lacquer, Maozhou melon seeds and Jindoushan russula were quite famous. There were four major economic industries in ancient Pucheng: metallurgy, ceramic manufacturing, textile and paper making. In the Song Dynasty, the ceramic industry entered its heyday, and Dakouyao porcelain was exported to Japan, Korea and the Philippines. Textile products in the Ming Dynasty, such as silk and silk, can be compared with Zhejiang and Henan respectively. The mining and metallurgy industry is prosperous, and 18 silver fields have been mined successively. In Qing dynasty, the paper industry was developed, especially the play paper.
