The name of Jiwei shrimp is mainly due to the farming method.
In the coastal areas of southern my country, in order to prevent flooding, local people have fenced the coast with "base fences"; and a species of sea shrimp, "Ma shrimp", likes to hide itself in the sand of the shallow sea during high tide. When fishermen discovered this characteristic of shrimps during their daily lives, they built jiwei to catch shrimps. Later, fishermen began to cultivate this kind of shrimps in seawater at the seaside, so they named them "jiwei shrimps".
Different from wild seafood, shrimp is a kind of marine cultured shrimp. Jiwei shrimp is also a seafood product, but unlike ordinary seafood, most of it is artificially cultured; while the seafood that people often talk about is grown naturally and harvested artificially.
