Luffa sponge consists of vascular bundles criss-crossing, mostly oblong, slightly thinner at both ends, with a diameter of 5 to 10 cm, varying in length, yellow-white and rough surface, sometimes with residual pericarp and pulp, light, tough and elastic, with three cavities in cross section, and occasionally with residual black seeds. Slight breath, light taste. It is better to be large, complete, clean, tough, yellowish white and seedless.
Life application
Some oil-bath air filters used in diesel engines use wavy fine iron wires as the filter element. Due to the impact of high-frequency and high-speed pulsating airflow, the iron wires rub against each other and gradually break into iron chips, which fall into the oil pan, making the filter element thinner and looser, and the filtering effect decreases. If the filter element is not repaired in time, the air filtration effect will deteriorate sharply, resulting in the rapid wear of piston, piston ring, cylinder, valve and valve seat. In this case, the fresh dried towel gourd can be peeled, seeded, cut into strips and filled in the filter disc. It is elastic and has reticular gaps, which can play the same filtering effect as iron wire.

pharmacological action
