Nowadays, a lot of games and software on the Internet have been made into a mirror format, such as ISO or CCD, and some of them have been made available to the public. Some games, such as Regulus and Monopoly 7 from Daewoo, can only be made into mds format because the game disks are encrypted, so the image files can only be made into mds format. When you work hard to download these software and games, ready to install the time, but found that the file icon are unknown type of windows icon, can not be opened, this time to be depressed to the extreme. In fact, as long as you install daemon tools this software, all the image files can be easily dealt with.
Benefits of virtual CD-ROM drive
I will start with the benefits of using virtual CD-ROM drive. Since both the virtual CD-ROM drive and the image file operate on the hard disk, you can reduce the number of times the real physical CD-ROM drive is used and prolong the life of the CD-ROM drive. At the same time, because the read and write speed of the hard disk is much higher than that of the CD-ROM drive, the use of virtual CD-ROM drive, the speed is also greatly improved, the installation of software is more than 4 times faster than using the real CD-ROM drive, the game will be greatly reduced in the reading of the disk stuttering phenomenon.
Installation and basic usage
Daemon tools is a free software, the latest version of 3.46, the size of 502K, there is a version of simplified Chinese, we recommend that you use this version of the Chinese interface, the operation is also easier. It can be used on all windows systems except windows95. daemon tools support ISO, CCD, CUE, MDS and other standard image files, and it also supports the characteristics of the physical CD-ROM drive, such as CD-ROM autorun and so on. The first thing you need to do is double-click on the installation file, click on the Install button, and then click Next all the way through to complete the installation, which requires a restart of the operating system to take effect after the installation is complete.
After a reboot, daemon tools will load automatically, and there will be a daemon tools icon in the taskbar in the lower-right corner of the screen. It's the red icon in the red box in the image below.
Right-click on the icon, a menu will pop up, *** there are five sub-menus, as shown in the following figure:
Exit is to exit daemon tools, exit the icon will disappear from the taskbar, you want to use daemon tools again you can double-click on the desktop daemon tools icon.
The help menu includes developer introductions and email support, which have little to do with using the image file, so if you're interested you can read the help yourself or send an email to the author of the software.
The Virtual CD/DVD-ROM, Emulation Project, and Options menus are highlighted below.
Virtual CD/DVD-ROM menu
1. First of all, you need to set the number of virtual CD/DVD-ROM drives. daemon tools can support up to 4 virtual CD/DVD-ROM drives, and you can set them according to your needs. In some cases, such as your game installation file **** has 4 image files, then you can set the number of virtual CD-ROM drive to 4, so that you can install the game without having to tune into the CD-ROM image from time to time.
After setting the number of drives, you can see 2 new CD-ROM drive icons inside 'My Computer'. The following picture shows the inside of the author's computer:
CDisk L is my physical CD-ROM drive, the real CD-ROM drive installed on my machine, and CD-ROMs M and N are the newly generated virtual CD-ROM drives.
2. Now it's time to load the image file, take a look at the picture first:
Operate as shown in the picture above, select the install image file, then a window will pop up for you to select the image file, select the image file, and click the open button.
3. At this point, open my computer, you can see that the CD-ROM has been inserted. Since I inserted a game CD, the CD is already running automatically. The two pictures below show the image CD inserted in 'My Computer' and the CD autorun respectively.
Open this CD and you can see the files on it. You can copy and paste or double-click on the installation file to install the game on this CD, just as you would with a real CD file. This is the end of the main work, and you'll be able to install software and play games.
Tip: If you want to change CD-ROMs, uninstall the image first, and then insert another image, which is much faster than inserting a new one.
If there are image files inside both drives and you want to uninstall both, you can choose to uninstall all drives.
Emulation Project Menu
Sometimes if you insert a virtual CD-ROM and find that it doesn't work, you can't see it in 'My Computer' even though it's loaded with the image file. Or you can see the CD-ROM, but you always get an error when operating it. Then you can try this option. There are four options in the emulation program, when you want to insert the image file in MDS format, then select RMPS. If you want to insert an MDS-formatted image file, then select RMPS, and if the file is protected by safedisc, then select safedisc. The other options are less frequently used, so if RMPS and safedisc don't work, then you can try the other options.
Options menu
There are 5 items in the options menu***.
l Analog Audio
When you insert an image file that is a CD music disc, then select this option, otherwise it may not play sound. You don't need to select this option for other image disks.
2Automatic Installation
When you insert an image file and select this option, then the system will reboot or turn off the computer and then turn it on again, then this image CD will be loaded automatically. It is recommended that you select this option for games so that when you play a game every day, you don't have to bother with inserting the image CD first, and you can run the game directly to play it.
3 Start automatically
Selecting this option will automatically load the daemon tools when the system boots up, which is not recommended. Just run daemon tools when you need it, this will save some memory resources to run the system, games, etc. faster. This option does not affect the previous option of auto install, even if you don't select auto start, as long as you have the image CD inserted and auto install turned on, the image CD will still be loaded automatically when the system boots.
Autolock and Taskbar Icons must be turned on for AutoStart to be selected, they are not very useful, and not selecting them does not affect normal use.
