There is no Pingxiang city in Jiangsu Province. Pingxiang is now a municipality (prefecture-level) under the jurisdiction of Jiangxi Province.

Pingxiang City is a municipality (prefecture-level) under the jurisdiction of Jiangxi Province. It is located in the west of Jiangxi Province, bordering Yichun City in the east, Ji'an City in the south, Zhuzhou City in Hunan Province in the west, and Changsha City in Hunan Province in the north.

It is located between 113°35′～114°17′ east longitude and 27°20′～28°0′ north latitude.

Pingxiang is the "Western Gate" of Jiangxi and plays a central role in the economic development pattern of western Jiangxi. It is known as the "Throat of Hunan and Jiangxi" and the "Throat of Wu and Chu".

The city got its name because in ancient times Pingxiang had a kind of floating plant named Pingxiang. It is the hometown of Pingxiang.

Pingxiang is located in the core radiation area of ??the Changsha-Zhuzhou-Xiangtan Economic Circle and receives radiation from the Pan-Pearl River Delta Economic Zone and the Southeast Fujian Economic Zone.

The Shanghai-Kunming Railway in the territory crosses the hinterland of the city and is connected to the two major arteries of Beijing-Guangzhou and Beijing-Kowloon. It is an important passage connecting the Yangtze River Delta and the Pearl River Delta.

National Highways 319 and 320 intersect in the urban area in a cross shape, and the Shanghai-Kunming Expressway and Pinghong Expressway run through the entire territory.

Extended information: The historical evolution of Pingxiang: After the founding of the People's Republic of China, it belonged to Nanchang Prefecture. In January 1959, Nanchang Prefecture was renamed Yichun Prefecture, and Pingxiang belonged to Yichun Prefecture.

In September 1960, the county was removed and a city was established, and it was managed by Yichun District.

In March 1970, Pingxiang became a provincial municipality.

In 1971, four districts were established with the approval of the Jiangxi Provincial Revolutionary Committee.

In January 1979, with the approval of Jiangxi Province, four county-level districts were established in Pingxiang.

On February 15, 1986, it was agreed to establish Quantian Township in Xiangdong District, Pingxiang City, with the jurisdiction of the six villages of Zhangli, Qingni, Ganquan, Penxing, Wuli and Liutian of the Institute of Agricultural Sciences.

On June 20, 1992, Lianhua County in Ji'an Prefecture was placed under the jurisdiction of Pingxiang City.

On November 13, 1997, Shangli District of Pingxiang City was abolished and Shangli County was established. The administrative area of ??the original Shangli District was the administrative area of ??Shangli County, and the County People's Government was located in Shangli Town.

Luxi District of Pingxiang City was abolished and Luxi County was established. The administrative area of ??the original Luxi District was the administrative area of ??Luxi County, and the county people's government was located in Luxi Town.

Shangli County and Luxi County are under the jurisdiction of Pingxiang City.
