Here, maybe you can find the answer!
Chaoshan area usually includes Chaozhou, Shantou and Jieyang. (Whether Shanwei belongs or not, there are different opinions, and it is not shown here. )
Where should you go first if you want to experience the authentic Chaoshan flavor?
First of all, you will be confused by a bunch of place names.
Chaozhou Station, Chaoshan Station, Shantou Station, Chaoyang Station, Jieyang Station and Chaoshan Airport.
Where can I go by high-speed rail or plane?
Then, even if you find out the cities where these stations belong, where should you eat?
Fortunately, I spent seven days and seven nights foraging in these three cities, and I also summarized a food list. According to this food list, everyone can choose their favorite itinerary.
Anyone who has read my previous shopping strategy knows that I will not write all the food recommendations in a city, but only some shops I have experienced and think are worth visiting again.
Every time you go to a city, first choose a bunch of shops, then choose a few, exchange your weight for a gourmet experience, and finally write down what you think is good. True experience is the essence, although this kind of love is limited to individuals.
Jieyang gourmet pian
Originally planned to spend New Year's Eve in Jieyang, and then stay for a few days for in-depth exploration. However, my friend has a bad life and clamors to go to Shantou in advance.
Even the beef in Baita Town didn't have time to eat, and the fate with Jieyang was only half a day.
Even so, there are several small shops that are quite unforgettable.
Recommended: Xinheng Goose
This store moved once, and the address found on Baidu map is correct.
Goose meat is different from the brine in Chaoshan area, but it is a bit like the white-cut goose in Zhanjiang.
Goose meat is tender and white, quite refreshing, and the original soup is used to soak kway teow and meatballs, which is quite fragrant. The goose intestines are sprinkled with soy sauce, ginger and garlic, which tastes crisp.
Guangde bitter sauce
In Jieyang, you are either eating or looking for food.
Guangde Nao Juice, an old shop, has a small stall at the door filled with all kinds of delicious food. You can add anything you want.
It's quite local. It tastes a little salty, but the price is not too expensive.
Shops on Zhongshan Road
A small shop with no signboard on Zhongshan Road is very popular!
I prefer skin. It looks strong and tastes elastic.
Rice snacks on the roadside, I forget what they are called. Rice tastes delicious, and garlic oil is the soul of this snack, which makes the taste lively.
Jieyang snacks may be scattered in the streets. I walked around Jieyang Experimental Middle School on New Year's Eve and found that this place is super lively, and the food may be hidden in it.
I have no choice but to leave Jieyang early and eat in Shantou, a more familiar place. I can only save it for another time.
Jieyang loitering articles
Rongjiang west lake park
On the way to Zhongshan Road by taxi, I suddenly found this park, so I asked the driver to stop and visit.
The scenery in the park is nostalgic. Looking at the lake through the branches, there is a bit of beauty in the West Lake.
Wandering in the city does not expect large-scale scenery. Old houses with local characteristics may be strange to locals, but they are scenery in the eyes of foreign tourists.
The mango tree that has been around for more than 200 years is afraid to be refined. Although it has shown vicissitudes of life, it is still full of vitality.
Lion dance (green lion) is a traditional dance in Jieyang City, Guangdong Province, and it is one of the national intangible cultural heritages. In Chaoshan folk, as long as there are various celebrations, there will be the custom of dancing the green lion and praying for various beautiful visions.
Many cities in Guangdong have a Zhongshan Road, which is almost in the center of the old city. Along this avenue, you can feel the history and taste snacks.
There are arcades on both sides of Zhongshan Road in Jieyang. This kind of building structure is quite common in coastal areas. It's quite comfortable to take Zhongshan Road nine times.
Shantou gourmet pian
I once wrote an article, "A street geek takes you to Shantou". I went to Shantou again to find out, but I found more new discoveries.
Recommended: Caishe Beef City
You must eat beef when you come to Chaoshan. Everyone in Chaoshan has his favorite beef shop.
This small shop, which is quite far from downtown, is a treasure shop found by friends on the Internet.
The cutting method of beef is different from that of many beef shops now, and it is more casual. There are no points such as five toes, three toes and hanging dragons on the menu. The older generation in Shantou said that this differentiation did not exist in the past, but only rose in recent years.
Fresh slaughtered beef, the meat is still trembling slightly. In the eyes of foodies, it is saliva rather than tears. Sure enough, the creatures that climb to the top of the food chain are quite "cruel".
Fresh beef is delicious no matter how it is cut.
Recommended: Fuyuan diet
Going to Fuyuan for dinner is still dazzling.
I ordered a few favorite foods when I was familiar with them, and the taste was quite satisfactory.
Highly recommended: longan rice congee.
The biggest surprise of this trip is rice congee, who returned to his hometown.
Raw pickled oysters are very fresh and have a very weak smell. The sweetness of oysters is perfectly blended with sauce and ginger. Known as "Chaoshan poison", pickled oysters really live up to their reputation.
Horses are fine, too. Frankly speaking, people who have eaten cannabis leaves in many families are salty and bitter.
So I've always been curious about why Chaoshan people like to eat this so much.
The cannabis leaves of this family are relatively salty and suitable, and they are a little refreshing for porridge.
If I come to Shantou next time, I will definitely come to rice congee in longan first.
Recommended: longan pork tripe
In a snack bar opposite the white porridge in Guiyuan, pork tripe and miscellaneous pork can be eaten in hot pot, or a pork tripe soup can be ordered separately.
The pork belly is crispy outside and tender inside, which is very good to bite, and the pepper tastes just right. The powder lotus root inside is continuous, which can satisfy the stomach and relieve boredom.
Highly recommended: Braised oysters.
I hid in my favorite restaurant for two years and finally succeeded in pulling weeds.
It's boring to put some autumn melons in oyster sauce.
Puning tofu is thin and crisp, and the tofu is tender as water, and the standard is very high.
Even the water spinach is fried green.
Smoked oyster sauce
The oysters baked in this restaurant near Xiaowu rice rolls are crispy, but they are oily, so be careful to burn your mouth when you eat them while they are hot.
Arong fish porridge shop
Zhongshan Road in Shantou is a tree-lined avenue. You can eat all the way along Zhongshan Road.
Passing by this fish porridge shop, I was attracted by this grouper.
Although I was full, I ordered a bowl of fish porridge. Fish with skin is more expensive than fish without skin.
It's expensive for a reason. Although the fish is fresh, the skin of the fish has a gelatinous taste, which is hard to describe.
Xiaoli juice bing
If you want to drink fruit juice ice, you must not change the sugar content to semi-sugar or sugar-free in order to lose weight, so you will regret it.
Highly recommended: Xiao Wu rice rolls.
Two years later, Xiao Wu's queue in rice rolls store became more and more horrible, from the end of the street to the end of the street, and the smell remained the same.
Xiao Wu rice rolls opened a branch in Zhujiang Road Food Street, and almost no one lined up. Actually, it tastes similar. The second photo was eaten on a branch.
Articles about wandering in Shantou
As a special economic zone, Shantou has better infrastructure.
There is both the prosperity of the new city and the sense of history of the old city.
The bus in the city is more convenient, and there are not many people sitting there. It feels like a chartered car.
Shibao park
Stone fort park is a memorial park with Qilu fort site as its scenic spot. Founded in Tongzhi period of Qing Dynasty, it is a large-scale and well-preserved military facility of Qing Dynasty in Guangdong Province.
This fortress is a castle-like ring building with a piece of turf in the center. The sun shines in, and adults and children rest on the lawn. This is really a leisurely place.
Small park
Take the bus from east to west, drive along Rongjiang River, get off at Shantou Customs History Exhibition Hall, and walk north along the outer road to the small park area.
Small park is the most prosperous commercial center and cultural center in Shantou in 1930s, and it is the historical symbol of Shantou's century-old commercial port. At that time, craftsmen combined traditional architecture with western architecture, and this piece still has great appreciation value.
Chaozhou gourmet pian
It won't take long to take the high-speed train from Shantou to Chaozhou. Chaozhou station is far from the urban area, but the bus not far from the main entrance of Chaozhou station can go directly to the urban area.
Because I went to Chaozhou alone, I could only explore small shops and ignored all the big ones.
Recommended: Yuanxin Beef kway teow (Yuan Kui Branch)
A beef kway teow shop in Chao 'an District, the beef is very fresh and special. I have eaten beef offal four times in Chaozhou, and this time the taste ranks first in my mind.
There is no price list in the store, and it is up to the boss to decide how much beef to add. You'd better ask clearly when spending.
Chaozhen Lao Wei giblet
In the shop pushed by Chaoshan friends, beef kway teow is relatively light, and the touch of turmeric is the finishing touch, but personally, it is not as delicious as expected.
Xikou liubu goose branch
Different from other goose shops, the geese in this restaurant are cold dishes, slightly cold and slightly medicinal. After eating, the lips and teeth are fragrant and sweet.
A friend praised the goose in this shop as the best he had ever eaten.
However, the price is small and expensive, and one side of the food has its own characteristics. You can try.
Recommended: salt water pot
There is a strong smell of pickles next to the goose shop. It turned out to be a stall selling salt water. I bought one without hesitation. Eleocharis tuberosa is a street snack with a little sweetness and salty pickled vegetables (dried radish).
Chaozhou loitering articles
Paifang steet
Chaozhou Paifang Street is actually the location of Chaozhou ancient city.
Paifang Street, as its name implies, is a long street with more than ten meters of archways. The whole street passes by, and there are many archways.
Strolling through the streets, Paifang Street is lined with historic Gu Xiang and houses with a sense of the times, which is worth visiting for an afternoon.
There are several towers on the east side of Chaozhou ancient city, the largest of which is Guangjimen Tower, and opposite Guangjimen is Guangji Bridge, also called Xiangzi Bridge. Cross Xiangzi Bridge, opposite the Korean Temple.
These places are famous scenic spots in Chaozhou.
Wandering around the ancient city of Chaozhou, snacks and desserts were everywhere, and I walked more than ten kilometers unconsciously.
Go to the northernmost part of Chaozhou ancient city and see Zhongshan Road, a road that feels quite fresh in literature and art, and walk from east to west to Chaozhou West Lake.
From Jieyang Zhongshan Road to Chaozhou Zhongshan Road, and from Jieyang West Lake to Chaozhou West Lake, the trip to Chaoshan was successfully concluded.
Writing about food always requires some attitude.
If you are looking for food in Chaoshan area for the first time, I suggest going to Shantou.
Urban infrastructure is good, and there are many food stores. Any shop is delicious and won't step on thunder.
Some people may say that I won't look for Jieyang and Chaozhou cuisine.
But the result is this, the same way to find it, eating in Shantou is more refreshing and stepping on thunder less.
Are there any more unknown food shops? Do the gourmets have any recommendations?
