Qingyan Ancient Town is located in the southern suburbs of Guiyang City and is one of the four ancient towns in Guizhou Province. The ancient town was originally a military fortress, developed from a Qingyan "Tunbao" where troops were stationed. The ancient buildings of the Ming and Qing dynasties are intricately designed and exquisitely crafted in the town. The time was four o'clock in the afternoon, and I took the train from Chongqing and arrived in Guiyang at five o'clock in the morning. I had nowhere to go for most of the day, so I took a taxi to Qingyan Ancient Town and walked around.

Qingyan Ancient Town is surrounded by mountains and ridges. It was originally a Tunbao Tucheng built on the cliff. After many constructions and expansions, the Tucheng wall was changed into a stone city wall, and the streets and lanes were paved with stones, surrounded by city walls. Built on the cliff with huge stones, there are four gates in the east, west, south and north.

It seems to be an ancient town entering from the west gate. The entrance fee is 70. Qingyan is characterized by its scattered residential houses and stone walls, which look very three-dimensional. Qingyan Ancient Town should be the largest ancient town in Guizhou. It was developed relatively early, so there are many people going there. My favorite place in Qingyan Ancient Town is still the old street called "Beijie", "Beijie" "In fact, it is the most distinctive stone alley in Qingyan. After hundreds of years of scouring and polishing, the bluestone slabs on the road have become visible and glow like a mirror, giving the street a unique look. A sense of time, space and mystery. The streets are lined with courtyard walls built with layers of stone. The roads are narrow and quiet, and follow the undulating mountains. This kind of stone alley is a unique feature of Qingyan. You will never see it in other ancient towns. It is really unique. Taste it.

Of course, when you go to Qingyan Ancient Town, you must not miss Qingyan’s delicacy, Qingyan braised pig’s feet. This kind of braised pig’s feet requires the trotters of pigs that are about one year old and raised in rural areas, and uses more than ten kinds of precious traditional Chinese medicine. It is delicious. It is simmered over a gentle fire and carefully marinated. When eaten, it is supplemented with Qingyan's specialty Shuanghua vinegar to make a dipping sauce.
