Let's start with the last question:
1. At present, there are more than 2 million foreigners in Zhongshan, far exceeding the locals. Most of the locals, except a few elderly people in rural areas, can speak Mandarin. The degree of integration between locals and outsiders is also getting higher and higher.
2. If you want to come to Zhongshan and Zhuhai, I would like to recommend some points to you:
Lingnan Water Town in Zhongshan Minzhong Town (Shatian area is mostly a village with crisscross rivers and networks, so you can enjoy the water town customs);
Sun Yat-sen's former residence in nanlang town (when you come to the hometown of great men, you must go, right? It's not big, and tickets are free. It seems to close at 4 o'clock in the afternoon. The former residence faces Zhuhai, a few kilometers along a path, and there is a "Yanshiwei", where seafood is cheaper, but it will be more convenient if you have your own car. Yakou Village in nanlang town is the most beautiful village. At present, it is all agriculture, and it is divided into households. You can also enjoy it if you have time.
You can walk around several major commercial outlets in the city-
The pedestrian street is a western building, but the shops have been reduced to discount shops and brand-name shops; Yihua business circle, selling high-end brands;
Daxin business district has a complete set of facilities, including food, entertainment, movies, games and entertainment;
In the evening, you can go for a walk on both sides of the Qijiang River and Qijiang Park, where there is a bar street, but the consumption is not cheap.
There are also Sun Wen Memorial Park (with a bronze statue of Sun Yat-sen), Zimaling Park and Yixian Lake Park in Zhongshan City. The air is very good. It is very good to go for a walk in the morning and evening. Tickets were free many years ago.
There are places to watch movies, and there are also cultural and artistic centers, where there are many high-end performances every year. It would be better if you could meet them. Of course, the tickets are not cheap.
Personally, I think that coming to Zhongshan, a small town, is mainly for leisure and holiday, and I feel the tranquility, freshness and leisure here. Of course, there are many southern specialties.
In Zhuhai, the only place to visit is Lovers Road, where there are fishermen in Zhuhai, which is a landmark building. The coastline is incomparable with those in Qingdao and Hainan, and it is only a harbor. There is also a Yelidao Park by the sea, which was newly built in recent years. Many locals go for morning sports.
Tangjia Town, I suggest you go there, which is the first town of Xiangshan and the hometown of Tang Shaoyi.
From Tangjia Town to Zhongshan, there is Qi 'ao Island, where many fishermen live, mangroves can be seen and there are many seafood restaurants.
Ordinary people will also cross Macao from Zhuhai. If they can't, they can walk in the underground shopping mall at the gateway, and you can also see the tall buildings in Macao from the vicinity of the gateway (at the end of Lovers Road). Be careful, there are many fakes in the underground shopping mall.
there is a seafood street in wanchai town, but it feels like it has lost its previous characteristics after renovation. You can also see the scenery of Macao there. There is a tour around Macau by boat, and many foreigners will take it. Personally, I don't think it is necessary.
There used to be a hengqin island in Wan Chai, which was rich in oysters. Now, whatever development zone is to be built, the University of Macau will build a campus here.
There are many islands in Zhuhai, but it is not recommended to go there in winter.
3. Zhongshan and Zhuhai are both immigrant cities, with rich cultures and tolerant cities. If you want to talk about customs, you should go to the countryside to find them, make rice cakes and float colors, but you may not meet them. Now I have built a greenway, rented a bicycle and walked around casually, all of which are very good.
4. In terms of accommodation, 7-day, home-like budget hotels are all good. If you want something cheaper, you can look around colleges and universities.
