When is the ghost face festival in Thailand? Introduction of Ghost Face Festival in Thailand

June 24 -26 is the busiest time for Thailand. In order to welcome the annual Ghost Face Festival, everyone has made full preparations before going out, from clothes to headdresses. As I just came here these days, I will give you a detailed introduction of how the Ghost Face Festival is spent and how powerful it is! Thailand, with a vast territory and a small population density, will enter the busiest three days of the year.

local customs

according to the customs of previous years, there are usually blessing ceremonies and cultural celebrations on the first day, the ghost face parade on the second day is the highlight, and the activities on the third day are mainly Buddhist chanting and Buddhism.

Among dozens of festivals in Thailand, apart from the Water Splashing Festival, I am most interested in the Ghost Face Festival.

When it comes to ghosts, many people think of horror movies, and then think of all kinds of scary plots.

Some time ago, I brushed a recorded video of the ghost face parade "Phi Ta Khon" on the Internet for about three minutes. After reading it, I can't help but sigh: "It turns out that Ghost Festival can be so happy."

When the three-day Ghost Festival is over, Caidan Town on the Loy border will calm down again. Almost all foreign tourists come to attend the Ghost Festival. After all, it is only once a year, and it is also a good experience to take advantage of the excitement.

loei

On the map of Thailand, Loei is divided into Northeast China, surrounded by rolling mountains, such as Mount Fuji in Thailand.

Every morning, you will see this different scene, which is quite charming.

do you think Roy only has mountains?

The new literary town

The Journal of Jiang Kan Qing is located at the junction of Loy and Laos.

once upon a time, this clean town was the territory of neighboring Laos. If you go to the town, you will find many buildings or customs with Lao elements.

Cai Dan, a small town in Danse

is Roy's appearance again, probably because the attraction of Ghost Festival is increasing day by day, and more and more people come to visit it these days.

A few years ago, it was almost luck to find a house with better environmental facilities in the border city of Cai Dan.

things are different now. There are many hotels in the town and the environment is uneven. Although there are many choices, there are still many competitors, especially during the Ghost Festival.

It is difficult to come to Cai Dan, so it is necessary to attend the annual Ghost Face Festival. In your spare time, visiting the surrounding scenic spots and experiencing the daily life in the border town will definitely add a lot to your trip to the Loy Ghost Festival.

Burns

The appearance is mainly brick red, surrounded by a small hall and a white square tower.

It is no exaggeration to say that this is the base of Ghost Festival. Charity, cultural celebrations, monk trails, ghost face parades and other activities are all here.

So far, there is no exact data about the age of Chai Peng Temple. Most locals of the older generation have always believed that this temple is at least 7 years old. Who knows?

Every year, various totem masks are sold in markets and roadside stalls, and there are also many small ornaments with different styles as souvenirs.

grimace mask museum

This grimace mask museum is near the Chai Peng Temple.

introducing history should be the standard of all museums, and this is no exception. There are several editions in the museum introducing the origin of Ghost Festival.

There are countless kinds of totem grimace masks scattered around the museum. Various patterns give visitors different impressions, some look interesting, and some are slightly mysterious.

The museum also has a hand-painted experience area, where visitors can hand-paint a unique grimace mask and wear it on the day of the ghost face parade.

Peace Monument

The Peace Monument between the two countries is one of the most respected landmarks of the Loy people.

according to legend, in the 16th century, the ancient Siam and Lancang dynasties successfully resisted the enemy's invasion, so they built "Platas Rizonrak" as a symbol of victory in the battle.

Walk along the path to the entrance of the memorial tower, and you will find dragons sitting on both sides of the ladder. The dragon here is different from our cognition, perhaps influenced by the architectural style of Laos.

hundreds of years have passed, and this place has been repaired dozens of times. The mottled exterior wall even tells passers-by about that long but profound history. The meaning contained in it is still circulating today, and people cannot bear to respect this building.

perhaps because of such a heavy commemoration, there are red taboos here, and red clothes are not allowed to visit.

Wat Neramit Wipatsana Buddhist Temple

If you start from the Peace Memorial Tower and drive south, you can reach this seemingly vicissitudes "Watnera Mitwipatsana" Buddhist Temple in about five minutes.

What you see is the traditional triangular spire design, which looks magnificent in appearance, with a sense of royalty.

The western-style gardens in the yard make people feel that they are not traditional temples.

When you visit a temple, you may be impressed by the huge paintings hanging on the wall. These paintings describe stories about Buddhism, and each stroke can be described as exquisite.

In fact, I think the historical sites of Caidan Town are bigger than the scenery. It is estimated that many foreign tourists have come to the Ghost Festival.

Travel guide

Traffic information

Flights: There are two airlines in Thailand, AirAsia and Nocturne, both of which have flights to Loy. If you leave from Bangkok, most of these domestic routes board at Don Mueang Airport, and the flight time is about one hour.

car: take the shuttle bus to Udonthani at the passenger station, get off after Loei, then charter or rent a car for Dansai, usually get off at Th Kaew Asa, the arch, which is about 8 kilometers away and takes about 1.5-2 hours.

About food

All the food here is local midnight snack. Although I can't remember the name, there are still many tourists at the Ghost Festival these days, so you can see a lot of local food when you walk by the roadside.
