As we all know, there was a "Koryeo Dynasty" in the history of a country in the East Asian Peninsula. So the country claimed that Goguryeo was also a peninsula regime, which contained wolfish ambitions. However, as local governments in Chinese history, there are essential differences between Goguryeo and Goryeo.
In the second year of Jianzhao of the Western Han Dynasty (37 BC), Zhu Meng, a native of Fuyu, established the local government, namely Goguryeo, in Goguryeo County, Xuantu County (now Xinbin County, Liaoning Province) in the Western Han Dynasty. Goguryeo was mainly composed of Haoqiang and Buyeo people, and had no cultural or blood relationship with today's North Koreans and Koreans.
However, Goguryeo captured the northern part of the Korean Peninsula during its heyday, and Silla, the real ancestor of North and South Korea, was in panic all day long under the threat of Goguryeo. During the reign of Emperor Gaozong of the Tang Dynasty, the Tang Dynasty eliminated the Chinese local government Goguryeo and its affiliated Baekje, and Silla unified the peninsula with the support of the Tang Dynasty.
After the decline of the Tang Dynasty, Silla, a subsidiary of the Tang Dynasty, also declined. In the first year of the Dragon Age (889), a large-scale uprising broke out on the Korean Peninsula. Although the uprising was eventually suppressed, Silla also existed in name only after the uprising. The Korean peninsula has since descended into warlord warfare. A troubled time dominated by heroes.
In the first year of Tianfu (901), Gongyi, the prince of Xinluo and the warlord of the separatist regime, became king. In order to show that he was incompatible with his ancestor Silla, Gongyi called the queen and named the country "Goguryeo", which was called "Later Goguryeo" in history. Because Goguryeo was once called Goryeo, the later Goguryeo was also called the Later Goryeo.
Although the name of the country is "Goguryeo", the later Goguryeo has nothing to do with Goguryeo, but is a political power splintered by Silla. The Gong descendants of the Silla royal family did not care about "Goguryeo". In the first year of Tianyou (904), the country was renamed "Mozhen", and in the fifth year of Kaiping (911), the country was renamed "Taifeng".
In the fourth year of Zhengming (918), Gong Yi was overthrown in a coup. General Wang Jian of Taifeng ascended the throne and named the country "Goryeo". Then Goryeo destroyed Silla and Baekje, and unified the peninsula. The Kingdom of Goryeo continued to rule the peninsula until it was changed to North Korea in the twenty-sixth year of Hongwu (1393).
Generally speaking, Goguryeo was a Chinese local regime that once ruled the northern part of the Korean Peninsula, and Goryeo was the second unified dynasty in Korean history. Although the name of Goryeo did copy Goguryeo, there was no difference between the two regimes. Any relationship is essentially two completely different regimes.
