Quanzhou Confucian Temple is located in Zhongshan Road, Licheng District, Quanzhou City, Fujian Province. It was built at the end of Kaiyuan in Tang Dynasty, initially as "Rusikou Temple", then changed to "Xuansheng Temple" in the end of Tang Dynasty and the Five Dynasties, moved to its present site during the reign of Taiping and Xingguo in Northern Song Dynasty (976-984), rebuilt in Shaoxing in the seventh year of Southern Song Dynasty (1137), and built the Lingxingmen Gate in the first year of Jiatai (121), and its scale gradually took shape. After repeated repairs in past dynasties, temples, furniture, courtyards and instrument doors were extensively repaired during the Qianlong period of Qing Dynasty.
Quanzhou Fuwen Temple is the largest existing Confucius Temple complex in southeast China, including the architectural forms of Song, Yuan, Ming and Qing dynasties. The whole building faces south, and the main building runs through the north-south central axis, including Dachengmen, Jinshengmen, Yuzhenmen, Dongxiguan, Dachengdian, etc., all of which retain the stone building foundation and abutment of the Song Dynasty. The wooden components of the building were rebuilt in the Qing Dynasty according to their original appearance.
