Lu Wenfu lived in Suzhou for most of his life. He created a series of novels based on the characters in Suzhou's alleys, such as "Deep in the Alley", "The Window Facing the Street", "Gourmet", etc. "Gourmet" is his pinnacle work. It was published in "Harvest" in 1983 and won the third national novella award. It has shown eternal charm as time goes by, and the title "Gourmet" has become popular since then. "Gourmet" has been included in various anthologies and translated into English, French, Japanese and other languages. It has sold well overseas and a single book was released on the same day.
