Is egg shell raw or cooked as fertilizer?
Eggshell contains a lot of calcium, but also a small amount of phosphorus, as well as other trace elements needed for plant growth. Their main function is to promote the health of roots and make leaves green.
Eggshell becomes organic fertilizer after it is made into fertilizer, which belongs to organic nitrogen fertilizer and calcium fertilizer, and is of great benefit to the growth of roots and branches of plants.
In fact, eggshells can be cooked or eaten raw, but the egg white and yolk inside are cooked separately. The key point is that eggshells will not lose their components due to heating, but they still contain trace elements such as calcium.
Therefore, according to the different purposes of fertilization and pH adjustment, the fertilizer made from eggshells can be sprinkled on the surface or deeply applied to the soil. But some friends use it improperly, and eggshells become things that breed insects. Because untreated eggshells can't be used as fertilizer, they will emit a lot of unpleasant smells, which are easy to attract flies and various insects, and do more harm than good.
Method for using eggshell as fertilizer
① High temperature heating method
Promote the transformation of calcium carbonate in eggshells into calcium fertilizer, which is absorbed and utilized by plants. The method is to dry the eggshell in the sun, knead it into powder, put it on a tile, and heat it under fire until the eggshell begins to turn into Huang Shi as fertilizer.
Calcium carbonate is not easy to decompose at room temperature, so it cannot be absorbed and utilized by plants. It will decompose into calcium oxide when the temperature reaches above 897℃. When it meets water, it decomposes mature lime (calcium hydroxide) and then it is absorbed and utilized by plants.
② Mixed vinegar.
Add vinegar to cooked eggshells while they are hot, or soak discarded eggshells in boiling water for 10 minutes and then add vinegar to generate calcium acetate. Calcium acetate is easily soluble in water, and can be used as phosphate fertilizer and calcium fertilizer for grain, vegetables, fruit trees and flowers after crushing.
(3) Crushing and using
Directly peel off the cooked eggshells, dry them in the sun, break them, adjust the soil pH through the alkaline action of calcium carbonate, and provide phosphorus nutrition for crops.
④ Fermentation and decomposition for later use.
Crushing eggshells, adding them into farmyard manure for decomposition, and decomposing them with acidic substances of farmyard manure, which can also be used as fertilizer.
