History of onigiri:
Onigiri (rice balls) have been the food of choice for picnics and lunchtime snacks for a long time. The triangular shaped rice balls are wrapped in seaweed and filled with fillings such as pickled plums and a slice of grilled fish, making them easy and quick to make, making them ideal for take-out. There is evidence that soldiers carried onigiri as early as the Heian Period (794-1192), so onigiri have been around for a long time. The triangular shape of most onigiri has not changed much. How to make onigiri:
