How to make delicious coffee with home drip coffee machine
Do not use ground coffee powder.

Buying whole and freshly roasted coffee beans is one of the most powerful guarantees for high-quality coffee.

At present, many unscrupulous manufacturers in the market deliberately do not print the baking date on the packaging bag when producing coffee. These coffees have probably been on the shelves for several months, so avoid buying coffee without a baking date. You know, coffee reaches its best taste within more than 20 days after roasting, and then the flavor will decline after one year. Don't try again after more than one year. It is best to drink coffee ground into coffee powder within one week.

In order to buy freshly roasted coffee beans, you need to go to a well-known baking company or coffee shop nearby. If you are lucky, you may find micro-batches of coffee carefully roasted by local roasters!

2. Pay attention to grinding methods and skills.

Remember, you can only grind coffee beans before making coffee.

Experts say that once coffee is ground into powder, the taste will disappear within 30 minutes, so it is necessary to grind it before making coffee.

The uniformity of grinding degree and particle size of coffee powder is also an important factor to determine the quality of coffee. Coffee has no taste if it is ground too coarse; If ground too finely, coffee will be over-extracted, resulting in bitter taste. According to experts, ordinary home coffee machines are most suitable for medium or medium finely ground coffee powder.

If you are not a local tyrant and don't want to spend a lot of money on a soymilk machine, you can buy a simple hand-cranked soymilk machine. Don't underestimate this hand-operated bean grinder. The quality of coffee powder ground with it is unchanged, and the operation is simple and effortless.

Of course, you can also choose the blade soymilk machine, but this kind of soymilk machine can't guarantee the uniform size of coffee powder particles, which leads to uneven coffee extraction and affects the taste of coffee.

3. Learn to measure coffee correctly

What you need to measure is not volume, but weight.

After all, the fundamental way to make perfect coffee is to minimize the number of uncontrollable factors, which is the significance of weighing coffee. Learn to use electronic scales. Only in this way can you accurately record each recipe and provide reference and guarantee for making better coffee next time.

Ideally, the ratio of coffee powder to water should be 1:20, which is 7.5g of coffee powder/150ml of water. Of course, you can adjust this ratio according to your taste preference. For example, some people like coffee stronger, and the gouache ratio can be adjusted to1:14; Some people like their coffee weak, so the gouache ratio can be adjusted to 1:30. Regardless of the proportion, the most important thing is to ensure the quality of coffee and the repeatability of each formula.

4. Pre-cooking of coffee

In fact, most traditional drip coffee machines do not have a pre-filling function.

Many automatic drip coffee machines have no brewing function and cannot completely extract the essence of coffee. Pre-washing is an essential link in the process of making hand-washed drip coffee. Its operation method is extremely simple. You only need to pour a small amount of hot water into the coffee powder to make the coffee fully moist and release the residual carbon dioxide produced by baking. Without pre-brewed coffee powder, the carbon dioxide in it will hinder the contact between water and coffee powder and reduce the efficiency of coffee extraction.

When making coffee with traditional drip coffee machine, after adding coffee powder, pour 50 ml of 200℉ hot water into the coffee powder to make it fully soaked, let it stand for 45 seconds, and then turn on the brewing button.

controlling temperature

The water temperature of most automatic drip coffee machines is not ideal.

The ideal water temperature for brewing coffee should be between 195-205℉(90-96 degrees Celsius). Unfortunately, except for a few latest drip coffee machines, most traditional drip coffee machines have no temperature adjustment function.

In order to test whether the water temperature of the coffee machine meets the standard, please do not add coffee powder, let the coffee machine automatically discharge water, and then measure the water temperature. If possible, it is more accurate to test the flowing water temperature, because the temperature will gradually decrease after the hot water flows into the coffee pot. If the water temperature cannot reach 195℉, please pour the pre-cooked hot water into the coffee machine.

However, it should be noted that the water temperature should not exceed 205℉, otherwise the coffee will be "burnt". If the water temperature of your coffee machine is always too high, please consider changing to a coffee machine with better performance.
