The Call Duck, also known as the Little Calling Duck, is a descendant of the Mallard duck, and is the smallest domestic duck species.

It is said that the Call duck was first introduced from the Far East and bred in the Netherlands as a decoy duck. Once known as the Coy or Decoy Duck, the Call duck's distinctive call was used to lure other ducks into traps or shooting ranges, but due to the decline in hunting activity and its cute appearance, it gradually became a favorite pet.

In 1865, the Cole Duck formed a standard production model in the United Kingdom, in addition to breeding the classic white and gray Cole Duck, but also breeding black, chocolate, yellow and other colors, since then, the Cole Duck has been successfully transformed into a pet duck. The artificially bred Cole duck has a rounded body, flat and short beak, and a very high face value. Compared to ducks of the same size, the Cole duck has a shorter neck, short and thick legs, a short but not cocked tail, and the whole body looks round. The shape is very cute and the character is tame.

Life Habits of Cole Duck

Free-range Cole Ducks usually feed on worms, insects, grasses and so on, and the intake of natural greenery will make their feathers brighter and more lustrous. However, because of their vulnerability to predators such as foxes and large birds, most Cole Ducks are kept in captivity and require human feeding. Like other household pets, the Cole Duck requires vaccinations, specialized food, bathing and good habits. It is docile and does not make noise or bite.

Cole Ducks differ from other breeds of poultry in that they have a good ability to fly. When threatened or scared, they can usually fly far away to avoid danger.
