The group of Prof. Jaeyeol Cho, Department of Genetic Engineering, Sungkyunkwan University, Korea, proved the correlation between ginseng and immunity through the study of the molecular mechanism of activation of macrophages by acidic polysaccharide of Korean ginseng. The acidic polysaccharide contained in Korean ginseng activates macrophages that perform immune functions and promotes the nuclear translocation of immune proteins, which leads to the active secretion of viral and bacterial killing factors, thus enhancing immunity.
