Why are there so many Hakkas in Guangzhou?
Guangzhou Hakka has two major factors:

Historically, Hakkas are the rising stars of Lingnan Han nationality, mainly originating in the mountainous areas between Jiangxi, Fujian and Guangdong. During the Ming and Qing dynasties, the population expansion in mountainous areas could not be accommodated, so Hakka people migrated to coastal areas and plains and hills in southern Fujian and eastern Guangdong. On the way south, Hakkas met with stubborn resistance from Minnan people. In Hukeng Town of Nanjing County, Xiayang Town of Yongding County, Sanhe Town, dapu county and other places, after years of struggle or duel, a large number of bunker-like earth buildings appeared on this line. The Hakkas won less and lost more, so the large-scale migration was forced to stop. However, the westward migration was a great victory. In the 11th year of Yongzheng in Qing Dynasty (A.D. 1733), the imperial court divided Chengxiang Pingyuan Town of Chaozhou Prefecture and Xingning County of Changle of Huizhou Prefecture, and established Jiaying Prefecture (the predecessor of Meizhou), which became the exclusive area for Hakka migration. According to the records of Jiaying Prefecture, there were more than 300,000 households 165438+ 10,000 people at the beginning of Jiaying State. By the time of Tongzhi (Qing Dynasty), the population had tripled, mainly due to the continuous flow of population in southern Jiangxi and western Fujian, forcing the Hakka people to migrate to Chaozhou, Huizhou and the Pearl River Delta again. Today, in Jiangmen, Zhaoqing City, Guangdong Province, there is a decades-long struggle with local Guangfu people, which is called Tuk Fight in history. Millions of people were killed and injured on both sides, shocking the ruling and opposition parties. If the Second Opium War had not broken out and Guangzhou had been occupied, the Qing court would have tried its best to cover it up, and the struggle between the local people would have left a deep impression in history. As a result, Hakkas gradually gained a foothold in the Pearl River Delta and Xijiang River basins, resulting in no land and no guests, especially in Guangzhou, Guangdong.

Realistically speaking, in 39 1 BC, the State of Chu established Cangwu County and Lingnan Six Counties in Wuzhou today. Historically, Chuting and Wuyangcheng were located in Guangzhou, followed by the capital of Nanyue, indicating that Guangzhou was the administrative center and commercial center of Lingnan very early. Therefore, it has attracted a large number of talents and businessmen, including Hakkas, just as today's S Beijing has attracted a large number of drifting northward. It should be pointed out that Hong Xiuquan's Taiping Heavenly Kingdom Movement and Sun Yat-sen's Second Revolution in China were mainly Hakkas, who both settled in the capital Guangzhou. During the period of 1996, when the author created and filmed the TV series "China Hakka", more than half of the leaders of the Guangdong Provincial Party Committee and government were Hakkas, who gave great support and help to the film.
