The Mandarin fish, also known as the arowana, is a carnivorous, scaly fish; it belongs to the taxonomic family Lipidae. Siniperca chuatsi has a laterally flattened body, a bulging back, a thicker body, and a pointed head.
It is one of China's "four famous freshwater fish". Siniperca chuatsi's meat is tender, with few thorns and a lot of meat, and its meat is in the shape of a petal, with a delicious flavor, which makes it the best of all fish.
The Tang Dynasty poet Zhang Zhihe wrote the famous poem "White Heron Flying in front of Xisai Mountain, Peach Blossom Flowing Mandarin Fish Fertility" in his "Fishing Songs", which praises this fish.
