Experiments show that Herba Polygoni Avicularis has diuretic effect. The urine volume, sodium and potassium excretion increased after the rats were given decoction with a physiological saline load of 20g/kg, especially potassium excretion, and its ash also had the same effect. Therefore, it is believed that its diuretic effect is mainly caused by potassium salt, and some people think that it is caused by flavonoid glycosides contained in it.
