Zhang Shousheng: "Xubian, Benjing and Bielu all treat damp-heat. Scabies, gangrenous hemorrhoids, vulvar erosion, and three insects are all pathogenic due to damp heat. Later generations used it to relieve damp heat, so it was combined with astringent turbidity. Treating jaundice and cholera near the lake, clearing away heat and promoting diuresis. However, dampness blocking heat accumulation is only appropriate, and qi deficiency is incurable. If the symptoms are damp-heat sores, soaking, itching, redness, pus dripping, etc. , especially full time. "
Modern pharmacological research
① diuretic action
Experiments show that Herba Polygoni Avicularis has diuretic effect. The urine volume, sodium and potassium excretion increased after the rats were given decoction with a physiological saline load of 20g/kg, especially potassium excretion, and its ash also had the same effect. Therefore, it is believed that its diuretic effect is mainly caused by potassium salt, and some people think that it is caused by flavonoid glycosides contained in it.
② Hypotensive effect
Intravenous injection of water extract and alcohol extract from Polygonum cuspidatum has antihypertensive effect on cats, rabbits and dogs.
③ It has hemostatic effect on uterus.
Water storage and alcohol extract can accelerate blood coagulation and increase uterine tension, and can be used as a hemostatic agent for uterine bleeding after abortion and delivery.
④ Antibacterial effect
1: 10 leachate can inhibit some fungi in the test tube, but it has a weak inhibitory effect on bacteria.
⑤ Other functions
It can enhance the range of respiratory movement and lung ventilation, and has a slight convergence effect, so it can be used as a medicine for trauma. Polygonum aviculare is beneficial to rats and dogs. Intravenous injection of semi-effective dose (2.57 ~ 4.26 mg/kg) can increase bile salt excretion in dogs.
Toxic Polygonum aviculare is toxic as pasture, which can cause dermatitis and gastrointestinal dysfunction in horses and sheep. Pigeons are the most sensitive to the toxic effects of this plant. The minimum lethal dose of oral infusion (10 ~ 20%) or decoction (1: 40) for cats and rabbits is 20ml/kg, and that of intravenous water extract (1: 50) is 2ml/kg.
