When it comes to Lop Nur, the first thing that comes to mind is no man's land, deserted and inaccessible. As we all know, Lop Nur once flourished in history, but with the continuous deterioration of the environment, it has gradually become a no-man's land in China, and only the ruins of Loulan are still telling the original prosperity.
Lop Nur area was originally called after the environment deteriorated. The forbidden zone of life? Yes, there is a sharp contrast between the prosperity of the past and the desolation of today. However, at the end of last century, a large number of potassium-rich brine mines were discovered in Lop Nur area. In order to develop and utilize this area, Lop Nur Town was formally established in 2002.
Today, Lop Nur Town belongs to Ruoqiang County, Xinjiang. We know that Lop Nur has a vast territory, so the area of this town has reached more than 50,000 square kilometers. It has exceeded the land area of Hainan Province, China, and is about half the area of Jiangsu Province. Therefore, it can be imagined that the area of Lop Nur town is still very large.
In fact, when Lop Nur Town was first established, there was no permanent population here, only some workers who mined potassium-rich brine mines would often come and go here, and there were few buildings in the town, only garage and restaurant. However, gradually, Lop Nur Town has a community and four villages. By 20 17, the permanent population here has reached more than 4,300.
Now, the infrastructure of Lop Nur Town is also in the process of gradual improvement. It is said that there are as many as 200 million tons of potassium-rich brine mines found here, and now it is also the largest production base of potassium sulfate in the world. Of course, as we mentioned before, Lop Nur is also very popular in history. There are many historical sites here, such as Loulan ancient city site, Zhubinhe ancient city site and so on.
