Origin and characteristics of litchi varieties
Litchi, together with bananas, pineapples and longan, are called "the four major fruits in South China", which are mainly distributed in southwest, south and southeast China, and are most cultivated in Guangdong and southern Fujian. Southeast Asia is also cultivated, and Africa, America and Oceania have introduced records. Among litchi varieties, "Luogang Guiwei", "Bicun glutinous rice paste" and "Zengcheng Gualv" are called "Three Unique Litchi".
Guiwei and glutinous rice paste are the best varieties and the choice of fresh food. Diaoqing is a precious and hard-to-find variety. Among them, Huaizhi is soft, clear and juicy, sweet and sour, which is the most widely cultivated and the highest yield variety in Guangdong. Guiwei, also known as Gui Zhi, named after its sweet-scented osmanthus fragrance, is one of the best varieties, belonging to the suburbs of Guangzhou and Lingshan, Guangxi.
