Attributive properties
Nature: sweet, flat.

Attributed to the meridians: into the spleen, stomach and lung meridians.
①Tang Liquid Materia Medica: enters the foot syncopal, taiyin and shaoyin meridians.

Use and Dosage
Internally: decoction, 3-9g (large dose 30-60g). External use: appropriate amount, decoction of water to wash stains; or powdered compress.

Geographic distribution
Glycyrrhiza glabra grows in arid and semi-arid desert grasslands, desert edges and loess hills, and it is easy to reproduce in the fields and river banks of the Yellow River Irrigation District. It is adaptable and resistant. In China, licorice grows in northwest, north and northeast China. Prefer dry climate, cold hardy, wild on dry calcium, well-drained, low water table sandy loam cultivation. Avoid high water table and floodplain acidic soil. Soil neutral or slightly alkaline is good.
Pharmacological effects of licorice
1. Effects on the digestive system: the removal of licorice sweeteners in the extract and licorice flavonoid glycosides in the rat experimental ulcers have a significant protective effect.
2. Adrenocorticotropic hormone-like effect: licorice extract, licorice sweeteners and licorice hypochlorous acid on healthy people and animals have to promote the role of sodium, water retention; a small dose of glycyrrhiza glabra sweeteners (100ug each) can make the thymus gland and adrenal gland atrophy, adrenal gland weight increase, glucocorticoid cortisone-like effect.
