Lime is native to the south of the southern slope of Qinling Mountain in China. This species is widely used as a rootstock for grafting sweet oranges and wide-peel oranges. It is a stomach tonic, tonic, wind expelling agent and correctant, and can be used for treating common cold, dyspepsia, cough with excessive phlegm, uterine prolapse and proctoptosis.

The fruit contains flavonoid glycosides, lactone, alkaloid and organic acid. There are hesperidin, naringin, isocorhinoside -7- rutin glycoside, naringin -4'- glucoside -7- rutin glycoside, naringin, limonin -3-β-P- glucoside and O-D- xylo-vitexin in flavonoid glycosides.
There is a bitter component limonin in lactone, namely phellodendron lactone and its derivative limonin monolactone. The alkaloid is narcotine. Citric acid and malic acid are the main organic acids. It also contains phloroglucinol -β-D- glucoside, sugars, vitamins, calcium, phosphorus and iron. The peel also contains volatile oil1.5 ~ 2%, and its main components are n-decanal, citral, limonene and octanol.
