Schisandra generally grows in three northeastern provinces of China, and is also planted in Shanxi, Ningxia and other regions of China. It grows in most parts of China, often on the edge of forests, bushes or sparse forests, and also in grass or grass nests on hillsides, and likes to be moist and cool. There is no main root, only a few fibrous roots, so it is not tolerant to drought. Likes fertile and slightly acidic soil.
