Yucca leaves are alternate, meaning that it has one leaf at each node on its branches.
Magnolia leaves are unique in that the stipules are attached to the petiole and wrap around the shoot, leaving ring-like stipule scars on the branches when the stipules fall off.
Leaf alternate itself is the concept of leaf sequence, the general leaf sequence has alternate, opposite, whorled, etc.; in a node grows a leaf is called alternate; grows two leaves is called opposite, such as Lonicera japonica, etc.;
grows three and more leaves is called whorled, such as cypress and so on.
