It is the core of Ziziphus jujube, a plant of the Anacardiaceae family. There are five small holes at the top of the fruit core (hence the name ‘five-eyed fruit’), and the core is hard. Distributed in Hubei, Hunan, Guangdong, Guangxi, Guizhou, Jiangsu, Yunnan, Fujian, Jiangxi, Zhejiang, Anhui and other places. Nature, flavor and function: sweet, sour, slightly astringent, flat. Promotes qi and blood circulation, nourishes the heart and calms the mind, digests food, detoxifies, sobers up, and kills insects. It is used for qi stagnation and blood stasis, heartbeat, shortness of breath, food stagnation, abdominal pain, and drunkenness. The usual amount is 10 to 25 grams. For external use to treat psoriasis, soup wounds and traumatic bleeding, the charcoal is usually calcined, ground into fine powder, mixed with sesame oil and applied to the affected area.
