During the Dragon Boat Festival, every family eats zongzi. What are the taboos for eating glutinous rice dumplings?
As the Dragon Boat Festival approaches, people are attracted by all kinds of zongzi, such as meat stuffing, fruit stuffing, jam stuffing, jujube stuffing and chestnut stuffing. People don't know which to eat or how much to eat. Ceng Jing, director of the Nutrition Department of Guangdong Armed Police Corps Hospital, reminded the general public that eating a lot of zongzi is easy to cause indigestion, especially for the elderly and children, otherwise it will easily cause indigestion and the symptoms such as abdominal distension, abdominal pain and diarrhea.

There are four taboos in eating zongzi.

1. Don't eat fish and meat.

When eating zongzi, you are very particular about what to match. The main ingredient of zongzi is glutinous rice, plus non-digestible food ingredients such as fat meat and beans. It is best not to mix with big fish and meat when eating, so as not to further increase the burden on the gastrointestinal tract. After eating zongzi, you can drink tea or eat fruit to relieve boredom and help digestion. But remember, people with weak gastrointestinal function should try to drink light tea instead of strong tea.

2. Don't eat cold drinks

Now all kinds of cold drink zongzi, ice cream zongzi and cold zongzi are deeply loved by people because of their cool taste. Experts believe that zongzi containing fat, meat and egg yolk should not be eaten raw, especially those with poor digestive ability. It is unwise for patients with stomach trouble to eat zongzi just taken out of the refrigerator, because it is cold and hard, so it is better to take it out and heat it before eating. Eat less glutinous rice and ice cream dumplings, because they are cold, greasy and difficult to digest, especially for children, teenagers and the elderly.

3. Don't eat greasy food

Although glutinous rice itself is easy to digest, it is mixed with greasy ingredients, such as fat and egg yolk. People with indigestion may feel uncomfortable. Therefore, people with indigestion should choose fresh jujube, jiaozi or white zongzi instead of eating too sweet and greasy dishes.

4. Don't eat jiaozi for breakfast or before going to bed.

Experts pointed out that after getting up in the morning and before going to bed at night, gastrointestinal peristalsis will slow down, and undigested zongzi will stay in the stomach, which is more likely to cause stagnation and stimulate gastric acid secretion, which may lead to recurrence of old diseases in patients with chronic stomach diseases and gastric ulcers, abdominal distension, abdominal pain, gastric acid reflux and other indigestion symptoms. For people with poor gastrointestinal function, it is best to eat zongzi between meals, or take zongzi as the main meal.

The following three kinds of people should not eat zongzi.

1. Patients with cardiovascular diseases such as hypertension, hyperlipidemia and coronary heart disease eat too much, which will increase blood viscosity, affect blood circulation, increase heart burden and ischemic degree, and induce angina pectoris and myocardial infarction.

2. Patients with gastrointestinal diseases: steaming zongzi will release a gelatinous substance, which will increase the load of digestive enzymes. The glutinous rice in zongzi is warm and contains many long plant fibers. Eating too much will increase the burden on the stomach. If patients with stomach disease and duodenal ulcer are greedy for zongzi, it is likely to cause perforation and bleeding of ulcer and aggravate the condition.

3. Diabetic patients: There are often things with high sugar content such as red dates and red bean paste in zongzi, which are usually mixed with sugar when eating. If it is not controlled, the function of islet will be damaged, which will lead to the rapid increase of blood sugar and urine sugar, aggravation of illness and even coma.

Tip: osmanthus tea is the best choice for eating zongzi.

As we all know, dry Pu 'er tea has the effect of nourishing the stomach, which is very suitable for people with bad stomach. Pu 'er cooked tea warms the stomach, and dried tangerine peel warms the spleen and stomach, which complement each other. Eating zongzi and drinking tea is both boring and healthy, killing two birds with one stone. Why not?
