Bayannaoer is a prefecture-level city under the jurisdiction of Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region. Located in the west of Inner Mongolia. It borders Baotou City in the east, Alashan League and Wuhai City in the west, Ordos City across the Yellow River in the south and Mongolia in the north. Bayannaoer, also known as Hetao, Bameng and Bashi, means "rich", "Naoer" means "lake" and "Bayannaoer" means "rich lake", with a total area of 65,000 square kilometers. By 2022, Bayannaoer City has jurisdiction over 1 municipal district, 2 counties and 4 flags. By the end of 2022, the permanent population of Bayannaoer was 1.5 1.760. Bayannur has Urad grassland in the north, Yinshan Mountain in the middle and Hetao Plain in the south. It belongs to a typical mid-temperate continental monsoon climate and is rich in mineral resources, wind energy resources and sunshine resources. The pyrite reserves rank first in China, and it is one of the regions with the richest wind energy resources in China.
