Summer solstice, also known as "Summer Festival" and "Summer Solstice Festival" in ancient times. In the 7th century BC, the ancestors used Tugui to measure the sun's shadow, which determined the summer solstice. The summer solstice is the earliest solar term among the 24 solar terms.
Summer solstice is the earliest festival in China. Before the Qing Dynasty, the whole country had a day off, and went home to reunite with relatives and have a drink. Nowadays, there are different customs of the summer solstice in different parts of China. For example, in the northwest of China, such as Shaanxi, zongzi is eaten on the summer solstice, and chrysanthemums are taken as ash to prevent wheat from being damaged by pests.
In the south, people are weighed to see if they are fat or thin. Farmers roll pancakes, baked, with vegetables, pods, tofu and bacon, and eat them after ancestor worship or give them to relatives and friends. In some areas, it is customary for underage nephews and nieces to eat at their parents' homes during the summer solstice.
