The consequence of not blanching Marantzia is bad taste.
Maran head is a non-toxic wild vegetable, if not blanched may taste bitter. Blanch the marjoram and consume it because blanching removes 50% to 80% of the oxalic acid content of the marjoram, which makes it taste better and is not harmful to the body. Malan (scientific name: Kalimeris indica (L.) ch. Bip.) is a perennial herb in the family Asteraceae, genus Malan, rhizomes with creeping branches, stems erect, up to 70 centimeters high, the upper part has short hairs, the basal leaves withered at flowering time.
The stem leaves are oblanceolate or obovate-moment-rounded, all of them are slightly thin, and the capitula are borne singly at the ends of the branches and arranged in a sparse corymb. Involucre hemispherical, involucral bracts imbricate; outer oblanceolate, inner oblanceolate-rectangular, herbaceous distally, sparsely short hairy, margin membranous, receptacle conic. Flowers ligulate, ligule light purple, achenes obovate-rectangular, extremely compressed, flowering in May-September, fruiting in August-October.
Reproduction methods of Marjoram
1, natural reproduction
Marjoram's main growth period is from March to November, the main nutritive growth period is from March to May and September to October, and the reproductive growth period is from June to September. Wild Marjoram mainly reproduces asexually, if the rootstock of wild Marjoram is broken by some animals, part of the plant breaks away from the original plant, and can grow into a separate plant again under good environmental conditions. In sexual reproduction, natural pollination by insects such as bees is needed to bear achenes, and the seeds germinate at a moderate temperature of 20-25℃, usually in 3-4 days.
The seeds formed by wild malan are few, if the young seedlings and stems of wild malan are picked in spring and fall for consumption, it will make it unable to form seeds. And the seed quality of wild marjoram varies, the overall germination rate is low, 2 age of wild marjoram seed quality is better, 3 age of wild marjoram plant into the senescence period, this period of seed quality began to decline. So there is less sexual reproduction in wild marjoram.
2, artificial propagation
Malan is often eaten as a wild vegetable, but it is easy to cultivate, high yield, high economic benefits of planting, and there is a systematic artificial cultivation technology. Artificial planting to loose, organic matter-rich, fertile sandy soil conditions are the best. Before planting the land is properly fertilized, the land is rectified to make a border, and a shallow ditch is opened horizontally on the border. Sowing methods are seed direct seeding and planting transplants, artificial seeding germination rate is low, the general use of planting transplants.
Split-planting transplantation will be the main and lateral roots of Malan cut into sections, put into a shallow ditch, fill in the soil and water; if the seed is sown, mix the seed with the right amount of dry soil, sprinkle a thin layer in the border, and then compacted and watered.
