One: From the content

Huang Tingjian, a famous calligrapher of the Northern Song Dynasty, commented on this poem: "Dongpo's poem is like Li Taibai's, and I'm afraid that Taibai's poem is not everywhere." The implication is that Dongpo's poem is very similar to Li Bai's, and even if Li Bai were alive, he might not be able to write it. Wu Zhenqi said, because different times, there are different major events, life also has different encounters, then the poet's talent and feelings are different. So this is a high rating in terms of content.

2, from the calligraphy

From the calligraphy carefully analyzed, Wu Zhenqi think there are several points deserve our special attention.

One: It is written with great panache and ease. Despite his mood swings, you can see that his characters are big and small, high and low, fat and thin, wide and narrow, slanting and straight, with both center and side strokes, and when you put all the contradictory points together, you can string it up with a thread. This thread is its emotion, and these words strung together can be called the word pearl.

Two: the beauty of rhythm. Generally people record their own poems, write one or two, the basic style is the same, the sense of ups and downs is not so strong. Dong Po wrote this work, is with his mood changes, the beginning of the calm, the more he wrote the more excited, writing to the middle part, there has been a climax. When he was excited, his characters became larger, fuller and more unrestrained, but when he came to the end, he slowly began to regain his composure. This happens to have a sense of ups and downs, showing that the poet has not only reached a rippling emotional state, but that his reason is more in control of his emotions.

Background

In 1080, Su Shi was relegated to Huangzhou as a deputy regimental trainer because of false accusations by his political opponents. As a deputy envoy of the regiment training was an idle post in the Song Dynasty, Su Shi was spiritually depressed and poor in his life. So, on the Cold Food Festival in the third year of Su Shi's arrival in Huangzhou, he poured out the sadness and grief in his heart to the end of his pen, and wrote the famous "Cold Food Poem Post in Huangzhou".

Author

Su Shi (January 8, 1037-August 24, 1101) was a native of Meishan, Meizhou (present-day Meishan City, Sichuan Province), with the characters Zizhan (子瞻), I (一字和仲), and the names of Dongpo Jushi (東坡居士) and Tieguan Daoren (铁冠道人). He was a famous writer and statesman of the Northern Song Dynasty. With Huang Tingjian, he was known as "Su Huang". He was also known as "Su Xin" with Xin Qiji. With Ouyang Xiu and called "Ou Su", one of the "Eight Great Poets of the Tang and Song dynasties", one of the "Four Famous Poets of the Song Dynasty".
