How many kinds of peaches are there in China?
There are more than 200 kinds of peaches in China, which can be mainly classified into four categories, namely peaches, peaches, nectarines and flat peaches.

Types of peaches

The more important varieties of peach are nectarine, flat peach, longevity peach and peach. Among them, nectarine and flat peach are cultivated as fruit trees, Shouxing peach and Bitong peach are mainly for viewing, and Shouxing peach can also be used as dwarf rootstock of peach. The tree is 4 to 5 meters high, with reddish-brown branches, lanceolate leaves, serrated leaves, nectaries at the base of petiole, and two kinds of flower patterns: rose-shaped and bell-shaped.

Drupe is mostly round or oblong except flat peach, and the fruit surface is evenly distributed with fuzz except nectarine. The flesh is white, yellow or reddish, and a few are red. The flesh is soft, brittle or dense, and the surface of the nucleus has different grooves, which are important classification basis for species and variety groups. The nectarine variety group is hairless outside the fruit, which is produced in northwest provinces, especially in Xinjiang and Gansu.
