Anchovy species

There are three species in China: (1) bare-breasted jacks, without scales on the chest, with a flat skin flap in the upper armpit, produced along the coast of China; (2) spotted-fin jacks, with scales on the chest and no skin flap in the upper armpit, distributed along the coast of China; (3) crowned spine jacks, with a frontal spine, and a large black spot on the spine of the dorsal fin, produced in the South China Sea. Meat flavor is delicious.

Distributed in the Indo-West Pacific region. China's coast are produced. Inhabits the bottom of the continental shelf sediment in subtropical waters, depth 80~200 meters.

Belongs to the perch-shaped family of storks, storks suborder storks, storks subfamily storks, storks subfamily storks genus, the genus head with spines and skin flaps. The muzzle is rounded and blunt, with a central bulge on the dorsal surface. Eyes large, superiorly lateral; interocular septum concave, with a central longitudinal groove. Preorbital bone with three spines, the third large and obliquely downward; infraorbital ribs conspicuous. Dorsal fin with 12 spines; anal fin with 3 spines and 5-6 soft bars; caudal fin round-truncate. About 50 species.
