Boiled spiced walnuts

Ingredients

A few fresh walnuts (cracked), 3-4 bay leaves, 3 peppers, and about 10 Sichuan peppercorns, Some salt, 1 star anise, 2 cardamom, 1 grass fruit

Method

1. Wash the fresh walnuts if there are any peeling residue from the outer skin. Clamp each walnut into an opening, being careful not to crush it too hard.

2. Put the walnuts into the pot, add an appropriate amount of water, put all the spices in and cook for 20 minutes, then turn off the heat, soak for 2 hours before eating.

Tips

Spices are based on personal taste, and there are no special measurements or requirements. If you don’t have them, dried chili peppers, Sichuan peppercorns, aniseed and salt can also be used as the basic ingredients. They are sold at stalls in ordinary spice markets.
