The “No. 1 Ginkgo City” in China: Taixing, Jiangsu

Taixing is the famous “Hometown of Ginkgo” with ancient ginkgo, number of ginkgo plantings, ginkgo yield, and ginkgo quality. It ranks first in the country and enjoys the reputation of "the first ginkgo city" in China. Taixing's ginkgo production accounts for about one-third of the country's total. In July 2009, the State Forestry Administration approved the establishment of the "Hubei Anlu Qianchong Ancient Ginkgo National Forest Park". This is the first national forest park in the world named after a certain tree species. The Ancient Ginkgo National Forest Park consists of Hubei Qianchong Ancient Ginkgo Provincial Forest Park (Qianchong Scenic Area) and Hubei Baizhaoshan Forest Park (Baizhaoshan Scenic Area). Pizhou is one of the five largest ginkgo bases in the country. There are currently 210,000 acres of ginkgo orchards, with an annual output of 900 tons of ginkgo fruits, accounting for one-tenth of the country's total; and an output of 12,000 tons of ginkgo green leaves, accounting for approximately 60% of the country's output.
