Vietnam is a place I have always wanted to visit because of its abundant food and affordable prices. In recent years, it has become much more convenient to apply for a visa online, so I recently arranged a short trip to visit Vietnam. The capital - Ho Chi Minh City.
The place where I stayed this time was the Grand Silverland Hotel in the city center, which has good living functions and is close to major attractions. There are many delicious foods and attractions nearby that are worth recommending.
Visiting local markets and bazaars is the best way to experience authentic culture, and you can usually eat a lot of local delicacies, so it is a must-visit place for me every time. There are three must-visit markets in Ho Chi Minh City: "The Box Market", "An Dong Market" and the landmark of Ho Chi Minh City, which is only a 5-minute walk from my hotel, and is also the largest market "Ben Thanh Market".
"Ben Thanh Market" is one of the few buildings left over from the Saigon period. In addition to the cheap cooked food stalls and local food that attract me the most, it also sells clothing, groceries, and handicrafts.
Walking through the narrow streets of the market, I randomly ordered a bowl of Pho (Vietnamese Beef River) at a stall that tasted pretty good. In addition to beef, the hot soup also contains a lot of flavorful green onions and green onions. Although it is not as flavorful as Jinli and the ingredients are not as rich, the flavor and human touch of the food stall are definitely worth it. In addition, you can also taste different Vietnamese specialty snacks, such as Vietnamese rice paper rolls with thin skin and rich fillings, rolled with refreshing shrimps, rice noodles and bay leaves, which taste fresh and delicious. There are also a variety of flavored grilled seafood, cane shrimp, Binhai, pork with lemon, and barbecue skewers, all of which can be eaten here.
Leaving "Ben Thanh Market", there are also many special delicacies in the nearby streets. The must-eat Vietnamese-French "fusion" food born out of its historical background - "Vietnamese French Bao" is another goal of mine. You can find it in restaurants or random stalls on the streets.
I chose a roadside stall that looked good. The proprietress skillfully spread butter and liver pate on the baguette, and then added some shredded pork, sliced ??meat, and pickled red and white radish. , cucumber, coriander, shredded green onions, etc., and finally added a little soy sauce and Vietnamese spices, and handed the finished product to me with a smile on his face.
Not to mention the taste, it is a big baguette with rich fillings. It can fill your stomach for about HKD 10.8, which is a great value! And the taste of this baguette is quite good, as usual. Different from the usual ones, the more sinister braised pork slices are used instead of the pork. The extra fatty flavor moisturizes the whole baguette, and is eaten with the crispy and sweet pickles and the fragrant coriander and green onions. It feels delicious without being too greasy.
Two blocks away from the hotel is the popular attraction "Ho Chi Minh City Museum". This museum records the important livelihood and history of Ho Chi Minh City and was designed by French architect Alfred. The magnificent architecture, which combines European Renaissance elements and Asian style, is classically elegant and has become a hot spot for locals to take wedding photos.
Further afield, there is another important attraction - the "War Remnants Museum", which mainly introduces the heavy history of the US military during the Vietnam War and related exhibits. The exhibition of fighter jets is breathtaking.
There are many vendors on the street who help people shine shoes. If you are interested, you can experience it. But I also want to remind everyone that local street scams are actually very common. If you are not careful, you may fall for it. For example, they force you to add "high-priced" insoles, or charge about HK$50 or 60 for a coconut. So be sure to ask about the price first, and then patronize it if you think it is reasonable. As long as everything is careful, you can have a happy and enjoyable journey.
