1 When selecting broad bean varieties, we should mainly choose broad bean varieties suitable for local planting. If we choose to introduce broad bean varieties, we should first find out whether the suitable environmental conditions of this broad bean variety are suitable for planting in this place. In the first year of preparing for large-scale planting, we should conduct a small part of breeding and see what it is like.
In order to improve the emergence rate and vigorous seedling rate of broad beans, the original new seeds should be selected, and the old seeds need not be considered. It is better to choose round seeds with bright surface and no mildew and discoloration, and weigh them in your hands. If you don't feel at ease, you can put it in cold water before germination, pick up the seeds suspended on it and discard them. The seeds that sink are delicate seeds.
2 Germinating broad beans are different from other leguminous seeds. Broad beans have a hard and thick seed coat, which is not as easy to absorb water and swell as other leguminous foods. The prepared broad bean seeds are soaked in cold water at constant temperature for about 30 hours. During the soaking period, the cold water is replaced every few hours. Generally, the seeds are soaked for 30 hours, and the cold water must be cleaned and replaced 4 to 5 times in the middle.
Subsequently, the broad bean seeds are fished out, immediately soaked in the currently prepared 0. 1% potassium permanganate solution for about 4 hours, fished out and dipped in cold water, which can be used for sowing or accelerating germination. The necessary environmental temperature for accelerating germination of broad beans is 15~20 degrees. The seeds are wrapped in wet sacks and placed in an incubator for accelerating germination.
3 Covering straw after sowing Choose a soil layer with good seedling condition. After sowing broad beans, it is best to cover it with a soft covering layer such as straw, which can have the effects of moisturizing, replenishing water and heat insulation, and promote the emergence of broad beans as soon as possible. Covering it with straw also has great benefits, that is, it can also chemically prevent the growth of weeds, reduce the competition between weeds and broad beans for nutrients, and save the cost of spraying herbicide. Some birds eat very carefully, and once they find that they have broken ground, they will quickly find the seeds sown by everyone and take them as their own food, resulting in lack of seedlings and broken ridges.
4 solutions for missing seedlings and broken ridges After the emergence of broad beans, check in time to see if they are eaten by birds, etc. If there are missing seedlings, they should be replenished in time. You can borrow seedlings from neighboring places or other places where the seedlings are densely planted. After planting, sprinkle some water to ensure survival. Or after sowing broad beans, prepare some seeds according to the above method and wait for replanting. After broad beans grow 3~5 leaves, they are thinned and enter normal management.
